The Art of Knowing Yourself: Use mindfulness and creativity to enhance your wellbeing
This course or workshop provides the environment, tools and techniques to achieve these things through a variety of talks, presentations, workshops, courses and one to one sessions.
You do not need to see yourself as particularly creative to join in, just be open and curious to see what might happen.
Those with a creative background or interest, can try new ways of working, share what they already know and reconnect more deeply to their source of creativity.
Creative Journaling: Develop a life long creative process. This workshop encourages and develops the time-honoured techniques and methods used by artists and creatives to connect to their thoughts and feelings. The journal and sketchbook can become an art form in their own right that speak to their creator throughout their life.
Through Your Own Eyes: A workshop that explores the ways you see yourself by making self portraits. Drawing, painting and mixed media will be used. This workshop is concerned with looking deeply within, and connecting with the essence of who you are.
Earth Art: Reconnect to nature in a profound way. A day or weekend working directly in and with the natural environment, creating works from found materials. When you are more connected to the earth’s energy, you can produce beautiful images and pieces from your engagement with nature.
Passion for Textiles: Explore the diverse world of textiles. A series of 3 hour workshops that build into a course exploring all the aspects of textiles from those fascinated in creating their own work, to those wanting to learn techniques or build a portfolio. Having run my own textile design business and teaching this subject for over 20 years this course draws on all the threads of my experience.
SLOW stitch Mindful and contemplative stitching is a way to engage with the textile art within us in a creative and reflective way.I will teach some contemplation and mindful ways of being alongside the techniques and style of this movement in textiles.
We will cover reflective sketch book keeping, creating a stitch journal, a large variety of stitch techniques, colour palettes, design essentials, Japanese boro, natural dyeing and staining, ending up with a period to design, develop and create a piece of personal art.
Beginners are most welcome as well as those with experience of making textiles at what ever level
'Thank you for such a great day, working with our images. I feel inspired to keep going and feel I have now been connected to my own creative spring...'
